Aniracetam or Piracetam: Which Is Smarter For Me By: Joe Ahern
Many of our customers inquire as to the differences in the “racetams” such as the following:
Aniracetam Piracetam Oxiracetam.
All three are classified as Nootropics or “smart drugs” for their beneficial cognitive effects. Improved memory, cognitive function and improved memory are all attributed to the “racetams”. Also, very few if any negative side effects have been attributed to these compounds.
Of these, aniracetam, is the most potent compound and thus its recommended dosage levels are much smaller. However, many studies have indicated that aniracetam’s beneficial effects extend far beyond the simple cognitive improvements attributed to piracetam and oxiracetam.
Aniracetam, like the other two, has been the subject of numerous studies in a variety of laboratory animals as well as in humans and the results are quite eye opening. It has been shown to relieve depression and panic anxiety in humans and to treat certain phobias. This compound has also been shown to have positive effects on age related brain deficits including Alzheimer’s, post stroke depression and dementia caused by vascular problems.
Like the other two, aniracetam is considered very safe and there have been no documented cases of overdose or negative drug interaction. So which “racetam” is right for you? Generally, we recommend that our customers sample all three compounds if their desired goal is improved learning, memory and cognitive function. However, if the customer is seeking alleviation of depression, anxiety or social phobias, aniracetam is always recommended.
Recently there was a shortage of aniracetam in the United States due some raw material shortages. We are pleased to announce that we are one of the few suppliers who currently have this over the counter supplement in stock. The Many Uses and Benefits of Piracetam By: Joseph J. Ahern, III
First developed in 1964 by Belgian scientist Corneliu Giurgea, Piracetam is part of a family of drugs and supplements known as Nootropics. These compounds are credited with improving cognitive function and have been used in treating numerous mental conditions including the following:
Alzheimer’s Memory Improvement Brain Injury Dyslexia Parkinson’s Disease Vertigo Cerebral Palsy Alcoholism and Alcohol withdrawal Stroke and Stroke related depression Epilepsy General Cognitive Function
Of these Nootropics, Piracetam has been the most widely tested and most widely recommended along with Oxiracetam. Aniracetam, which is a more concentrated version of Piracetam, has also been used for the above conditions with great success as well. However, recent U. S. government action has banned the import of a raw material needed to produce the more concentrated Aniracetam but has had no effect on the availability of Piracetam or Oxiracetam.. No prescription is needed to obtain Piracetam in the United States and it is one of the few Nootropics that has virtually no adverse side effects.
Piracetam is readily available from a number of sources including dealsinbulk.com. For a list of detailed studies of Piracetam, please visit Piracetam.com.
Phenibut For A Healthy Mind and Body By: Joseph Ahern
Phenibut, another of the compounds derived from GABA, was originally produced in Russia during the 1960’s where it was utilized for its anti-anxiety effects. Like GABA, it is a neurotransmitter that crosses the blood-brain barrier and also helps control muscle tone. Now available in the United States, it has become a supplement used for both its physical and nootropic effects.
Since it works as an inhibitor in the brain, it is generally credited with providing a relaxing effect and a general feeling of well being. This tranquilizing effect is credited with providing a more restful sleep which can lead to increased energy upon waking. Studies have also indicated that Phenibut has increased the resistance to heat stress which leads to improved working capacity as well as improving physical strength. Imagine that, happier and more productive exercise sessions!
From a medical standpoint, Phenibut has been used to treat Parkinson’s Disease with some limited success as well as the side effects of alcohol and morphine withdrawal. Phenibut is most often compared with Piracetam, another GABA derived compound and, along with both Piracetam and Oxiracetam, is often being used to replace Aniracetam which is no longer available in the United States.
Although having anti-anxiety properties, Phenibut is generally not recommended for long term treatment of General Anxiety Disorder. One of the side effects of Phenibut is a withdrawal or “hangover” effect following cessation of use. Some recommend a three day cycle of Phenubit followed by a two to three day cessation period. This program has been shown to minimize the withdrawal symptoms.
As with anything, Phenibut can be abused such as overdosing as combining with alcohol and illegal drugs. In fact, some people have used Phenibut as a “party drug” in an effort to duplicate the effects of GHB.
As with any supplements, we recommend consulting a health care professional before starting Phenibut usage.
GABA: Another of the “Smart Supplements” By: Joseph Ahern
GABA or Gamma-aminobutyric acid is a neurotransmitter naturally produced in humans which regulates neuron function. It is also involved in the control of muscle tone as it is a controller and producer of Human Growth Hormone, or HGH. Although the body synthesizes its own GABA from glutamine, those levels of production always decrease as we age. Many people can benefit from supplementing GABA as part of both a fitness and general health program.
A study of GABA supplementation revealed that participants increased their Human Growth Hormone levels by 5 times with as little as 5 grams taken just 90 minutes earlier. We all know that HGH levels affect muscle mass, muscle tone and levels of body fat. The benefits of supplementation of GABA are not only for the athlete or bodybuilder but can greatly benefit the quality of life for those who are not just interested a better physique.
There have been a number of studies regarding the use of supplemental GABA with regard to brain function including memory, mood and anxiety. Most studies agree that GABA has a somewhat sedating effect on the brain and is an inhibitor rather than an exciter. Proper brain function requires a balance between these two types of amino acids. Thus, if a person’s brain has a higher level of exciters than inhibitors, supplementing with GABA can be helpful.
Some studies have concluded that GABA serves as a brain circulation agent and can improve memory, alertness and focus. Others have concluded that GABA is contributing factor in boosting the immune system. Certain nootropics, or so called “smart drugs” because of their positive affect on cognition and brain function, are actually derived from GABA. Among these are Piracetam, Oxiracetam and Aniracetam.. Due to recent government action eliminating the availability of Aniracetam as a supplement, many people have turned to supplementing with GABA and the previously mentioned products.

DHEA: Priming The Testosterone Pump By: Joseph Ahern
DHEA, or Dehydroepianrosterone, is a hormone precursor that is naturally produced in the human body in the adrenal gland. One of the hormones that is produced by DHEA is testosterone along with esterone and estradiol. DHEA production and, therefore testosterone production, usually peaks at about age 21 and gradually decreases as we age.
As we know, testosterone levels can directly affect muscle growth and athletic performance. Just ask the officials at the Tour de France! All kidding aside, testosterone levels have been shown to prevent the cannibalization of skeletal muscles which occurs naturally with aging. Thus, maintaining appropriate levels of DHEA will keep the testosterone well from running dry.
Because DHEA counteracts cordisol, a hormone associated with aging, it has been tested extensively with the elderly with mixed results. Several studies have concluded that DHEA as a supplement can help reduce cholesterol levels. It has also been credited with improving general mood and in combating mild depression.
However, DHEA as a supplement is mainly used by athletes interested in increasing testosterone levels for both muscle gain and performance. Although legal for use and readily available in the United States, athletes should be warned that DHEA is a banned substance by both the NCAA and the NFL.
As with all supplements, recommended dosages can vary and monitoring DHEA levels should be done frequently. Always consult a health care professional before beginning any supplement or fitness program.

The Best Pre-Workout Supplements
By Joe Ahern
What you do before your workout can be as important as your workout itself. Stretching is certainly important as is to prepare your workout routine. Setting goals for each individual session is essential as is organization of exercises and equipment. But what else can you do to get the best results?
We believe that a pre-workout supplement is as important as supplements taken to maximize post workout results. For example, preparing your body with a nitric oxide reactor such as Arginine will reap huge benefits from each workout session.
Arginine is one of those rare semi-essential amino acids that can be produced in the body but only after a certain age. It can be found in such dairy products as yogurt, cottage cheese, milk and other products. Its many benefits include wound and muscle healing, improved immune function, and most importantly for athletes and bodybuilders, the increased production of human growth hormone (HGH) and an increase in muscle mass.
We have found three pre-workout supplements that are terrific sources of Argainine and other muscle building ingredients. They are:
Hyper Pump by Advanced Muscle Infinite Lab’s Juggernaut Xpand by Dymatize
All three contain Arginine and other important ingredients such as Creatine, Whey and others that will help you achieve maximum results from each individual session. These products are recommended to be taken approximately 30 minutes before a workout session and then again about 8 hours later usually before a meal. As with all supplements, each person will have varying results so you may want to sample each before deciding which is best for you.

Think Before Grabbing That Energy Drink By: Joe Ahern
You’ve been at work all day, you’ve taken care of your kids, you’ve already done so much and you’re tired. But you need that evening workout. Most people have been conditioned to grab one of those sugary, caffeine laden energy drinks that come in more colors than exist in a kaleidoscope? Don’t do it.
Sure you may get that sugar and caffeine rush you need to get started, but it wears off pretty quickly. Do you grab one of those fat, carbohydrate and sugar filled energy bars? Not unless you want those calories to end up as body fat.
The surest and best way to get the best result and build lean muscle mass is to look to nature, not the soft drink and candy manufacturers. The most effective energy boosting supplements are those that are neurostimulators and metabolic activators. Substances that have thermogenic properties and stimulate oxygen flow to the muscles offer the very best and longest lasting results.
So what are nature’s best energy sources? Green tea has been shown to provide a long lasting energy boost and has a number of additional beneficial effects including weight loss and immune system stimulation. Hoodia, the ancient African herb, has a strong energy enhancing component while also helping to curb that post workout hunger. Both Guarana and Carnatine have been shown in numerous studies to stimulate the electron transport system which is at the core of the body’s energy supply.
So instead of pouring that chartreuse, caffeinated bottle of sugar down your gullet or grabbing a five dollar glorified Snickers Bar, look to Mother Nature, not Sugar Daddy.
How Do I Test My Body Fat? By: Joe Ahern
One of the key goals of any fitness program is the loss of body fat as a percentage of one’s total weight. Now it is clear that a certain percentage of body fat is necessary or “essential” for proper health. For men a body fat percentage of 2 to 4 percent is considered essential while with women, 10 to 12 percent is necessary for proper health and body function. Acceptable body fat ratios for men are 18 to 25 percent while with women it is 25 to 31 percent. Any measurement above these ranges is considered obese.
Athletes, bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts usually seek percentages closer to the essential range versus the “acceptable” ratios. As with all health and fitness programs, one needs to set goals that are both realistic as well as beneficial. Losing too much body fat can have negative health consequences as serious as being obese.
So how do you test and calculate your body fat? The most widely used technique is the skin fold test which is done with a calibrating tool testing skin folds in 3, 4 or 7 distinct sites on the body. The measurements, which are done in millimeters, are then entered into a formula which is contingent on body weight. The most widely used and, in our opinion the most accurate, is the Jackson-Pollack Formula. Measurements are taken using the measuring tool in the following areas:
Chest Scapula Axilla Triceps Waist Hip Thigh
These measurements are then entered into a formula that will calculate body fat percentage based on one’s weight. As with anything related to health and fitness, it is important to have the best available equipment. We have found that Accufitness makes a number of high quality products to accurately gauge weight, heart rate, body fat and other calculations essential to your fitness program.

Glucosamine + Chondroitin = Happy Joints By: Joe Ahern
Glucosamine is naturally produced in the human body as is Chondroitin and both are essential for healthy joints. When supplies of these important amino acids are too low, joint and tissue health can suffer. Specifically, these vital compounds are used in the creation of cartilage, tendons and other connective tissues. These compounds are also responsible for water retention in the joints which helps to lubricate them.
So when levels of Glucosamine and Chondroitin are inadequate, we experience joint pain and a loss of mobility. Athletes and bodybuilders have long understood the value of supplementing with these compounds, particularly after strenuous workouts. This helps with recovery times as well as contributes to overall joint and tendon health.
But the benefits of supplementing with these compounds extends beyond just those engaged in rigorous physical activity. Several well respected studies have shown that supplementing with Glucosamine alone in the form of Glucosamine Sulfate has had significant benefits for patients suffering from osteoarthritis. There have also been studies that have shown that adding Chondroitin can also help in treating this condition. Specifically, these compounds are responsible for the creation of the synovial fluids which lubricate the joints. Those with osteoarthritis have an inadequate supply of those fluids and joints then compress.
The benefits of these supplements have also been shown in patients with digestive tract conditions such as colitis and Chrohn’s Disease. The major source of Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements are the shells of shellfish so those with an allergy to them should consult a healthcare professional before taking them. Also, these compounds are considered a drug in Europe so they must be prescribed by a doctor in those counties.
Our customers have reported that supplements containing both Glucosamine and Chondroitin give the best results. Recommended dosages may vary based upon body weight and a person’s condition.

Daily Detox for Better Health By: Joe Ahern
Most fitness enthusiasts know the value of the muscle building and fat burning supplements that they take as part of their bodybuilding regimen as well as the benefits of good nutrition. But if their system contains toxins and metatoxins, absorbing these valuable nutrients can be impaired. That is why many athletes make a daily detox or system - cleanse as part of their routine.
There are number of detoxification supplements on the market today and nearly all are comprised of natural ingredients. But to understand how they work, you must know that there are two types of detox programs: liver and digestive detoxification.
Digestive detoxification or cleansing is often done on a daily basis before meals or some recommend a nightly dosage. This removes not only the toxins in the digestive tract but also stimulates the body’s ability to better absorb nutrients derived from both food and supplements. This, in turn, stimulates cellular action as well as assists with the synthesis of collagen essential in muscle development.
Liver detox helps clean the organ which actually cleans our blood. This too will assist with nutrient absorption as well as remove toxins. This is often done less frequently. As with certain supplements, a body can develop a tolerance level for these products and some athletes chose to switch products on a weekly or monthly basis. In fact, some manufacturers sell detoxification supplements as part of a two part package with different ingredients that are switched on a schedule.
There are many variations on the ingredients in these supplements. However, most include a mix of various natural plant leaves and barks. Among these are papaya leaf, cascara sagrada bark, peppermint leaf, green tea and peppermint leaf. Many products also include ginger root and ginger extract. Detoxification products are available in a number of forms including caplets, extract and teas. It has been our experience that the caplets are the most popular due to the ease involved in consumption.
As with any health and fitness program, it is advisable to consult a health care professional. For more information on health and fitness supplements go to www.dealsinbulk.com.
You Don’t Have To Like Fish To Love Fish Oil By: Joseph Ahern
Fish has been consumed by humans since the dawn of time. It is only within the last 50 years or so, that we have come to understand the incredible health values that fish, and in particular the Omega – 3 fatty acids contained therein, have on many of our organs and systems. These Omega – 3’s are found most prevalently in fish that consume various forms of algae as well as the larger fish that eat them. Ironically, fish do not produce these fatty acids themselves.
Over- fishing of numerous species and pollution have made consumption of certain species both less available and costly as well as potentially unhealthy. For years we have seen warnings regarding such species as swordfish, bluefish and shark for containing high levels of mercury and carcinogenic PCB’s. As such, production and use of fish oil supplements for their many healthy effects has increased dramatically.
But what exactly are the health benefits of fish oil? What do Omega -3 fatty acids really do? Omega -3’s help a body maintain appropriate levels of triglycerides which have positive effects on the heart, brain and vascular systems.
Long referred to as “brain food”, fish oil consumption has been shown to help treat depression and has been studied with success in slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. It is also believed to have a beneficial effect on the brain’s frontal cortex which is believed to be the area controlling human behavior.
As for the heart and vascular systems, Omega – 3 is shown to reduce unwanted and dangerous clotting and can reduce high blood pressure. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends consuming one gram of fish oil per day while a Journal of American Medical Association study recommends two grams per day. While both recommend consuming fish itself, it is acknowledged that this is quite impractical and they acknowledge the benefits of supplementing Omega – 3 fish oil daily.
Fish oil supplements are readily available on the market from a number of manufacturers. Our recommendation is to find a caplet that is dissolved in the small intestine rather than the stomach such as Fisol by Nature’s Way. For more information on Omega – 3 and other supplements, go to www.dealsinbulk.com
A Better Sex Life Equals Better Health By: Joseph Ahern
Everyone seems to agree that a healthy and active sex life is vital for one’s physical and mental well being. An active, healthy sex life can lead to better overall physical fitness as well improving mood and preventing depression and other mental health issues. For centuries, man has searched for and uncovered natural aphrodisiacs to improve the performance and libidos of both men and women.
Ironically, some of the most effective products on the market are derived from some of the most ancient of formulas. Natural aphrodisiacs such as the aptly named Horny Goat Weed, Muira Puama Bark and Damiana Leaf can trace their original usage back to ancient China and other parts of Asia. Horny Goat Weed was originally used by Asians to improve joint function as well as treating ailments of the liver and kidneys. Horny Goat Weed has been proven to increase testosterone levels as well as stimulating sensory nerves in both men and women. This stimulating effect increases an individual’s desire for sex.
The side effects of natural sexual enhancers such Horny Goat Weed are virtually non existent unlike prescription drugs such as Viagra and Cialis which can have major interactions with other drugs and can cause other severe complications.
Although these supplements are ancient in origin, the benefits of 21st Century technology have helped create some ideal mixes of active ingredients as well as ensuring the highest levels of purity. We have found in our experience that products from manufacturers such as Pinnacle, HiTech Pharm and Pure Essence Labs to be well blended and very effective. Most offer products for both men and women and are available in several forms including liquid and pills.

Green Tea For A Slimmer, Healthier You By: Joseph Ahern
Green Tea has been around for thousands of years but is only recently being hailed as an essential ingredient as part of a healthy lifestyle. Long known for its anti-oxidant qualities, a number of studies have attributed green tea to having a beneficial effect on numerous parts of the body and with having both curative and preventive characteristics.
Studies have been done that have linked green tea consumption to the following:
Improving Cholesterol Levels (HDL v. LDL) Improving Heart Health and Preventing Adverse Clotting Improving Immune Function and Combating Infection Improving both Oral and Skin Health
Some studies have also investigated the effects on green tea with regard to cancer treatment with varying results.
But the most recent and widely hailed effect of green tea is with regard to weight loss. Because green tea contains what are known as polyphenols, it will increase a person’s metabolism. Green tea also increases thermogenesis which is the body’s way of burning fat. All of these benefits are achieved without the stimulants of many diet products which can cause jitters, mood swings and irritability. Several of these stimulants have recently been banned by the FDA such as Ephedra.
Green tea is available in numerous forms including powder, extract and pill form. It has been our experience that the pill or caplet form are the most popular as dosage can be better regulated without needing to actually brew and consume the recommended 3 to 4 eight ounce cups of tea per day. Green tea extract in liquid form has also become a popular seller as drops of the extract can be added to any drink.
As with any supplement program, it is recommended that one consult a health care professional before commencing. For more information on green tea and other health and fitness supplements, go to www.dealsinbulk.com.
Hoodia: Nature’s Ancient Appetite Suppressant By: Joseph Ahern
Hoodia or Hoodia Gordonii as it is properly known, is a cactus-like plant found exclusively in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The San Bushmen ate this plant as both a food source and to help suppress their hunger while on long hunting journeys in the very sparsely vegetated desert. More recently, the weight loss and diet benefits of Hoodia were discovered and it has become a very popular weight loss supplement.
How does Hoodia work? Is it safe? Are there any adverse side effects?
The active ingredient in Hoodia Gordonii is known as P57 and it works, in simple terms, by tricking the brain. Hoodia has a chemical effect on the brain quite similar to glucose which is produced when food is ingested. One recent study showed that a person taking Hoodia before meals has been shown to average approximately 1,000 fewer calories consumed per day than those taking a placebo.
But unlike some other types of diet pills, Hoodia does not burn fat. It has also been shown to be ineffective when used by people with poor eating habits such as those individuals who continue to eat after being satiated. So those with eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia should not take Hoodia. Hoodia is also contraindicated for those patients with diabetes and those patients taking heart medications or clotting and anti-clotting agents such as coumadin.
As for adverse side effects, Hoodia has been shown to have virtually none since it is not a stimulant as are many popular diet pills. In fact, the FDA has recently banned a number of these drugs which contain stimulants such as Ephedra and Phenfen. Hoodia has shown its best results when taken in conjunction with a comprehensive fitness program including exercise and a proper diet. As with all supplements, it is advised that one consult a health care professional prior starting any fitness or weight loss program.

Supplement With Creatine For Better Results And Faster Recovery By: Joseph Ahern
Creatine is a natural substance produced by the human body in the liver which is essential in muscle function. Specifically, it is the substance that aids in muscle contraction. Although creatine is produced in the body, it is also consumed through food products such as read meat. As such, vegetarians have much lower levels of stored creatine and can benefit by taking it as a supplement.
Creatine monohydrate as a supplement helps with muscle energy enabling athletes to exercise longer and harder and aids in muscle cell volumization (muscle size). Creatine assists with muscle hydration thus preventing muscle breakdown following a rigorous workout session. It is also credited with helping heal damaged muscles including tears at a more rapid pace.
Athletes and bodybuilders often supplement with creatine in two distinct ways: Loading and Maintaining. Loading is usually done in a 5 day cycle where creatine supplements are taking are taken 4 or 5 times per day. Maintaining usually involves a similarly timed period during which creatine supplements are taken once or twice per day.
Creatine can be taken up to 30 minutes before a workout to boost energy for the session or immediately after to assist with muscle re-growth. Recommended dosages vary depending on an athlete’s size and fitness goals. The generally recommended dosage for a maintenance program is 5 grams once or twice per day. One should always consult a health care professional before undertaking any supplement or exercise program.
The adverse side effects of creatine are very few if taken in appropriate amounts. Athletes with liver or kidney dysfunction should not take creatine. Creatine supplements have also been used to treat neuromuscular conditions such as Arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, and Huntington’s Disease. It has also been credited with aiding cognitive function such as memory.
Creatine Supplements are readily available in the United States and can be found in both caplet and bulk powder form. Among the major manufacturers of creatine supplements are the following:

Creatine Monohydrate Formulas
The high-quality creatine monohydrate saturation formulas have quickly become must-have supplements for any serious body Articles "The high-quality creatine monohydrate saturation formulas have quickly become “must-have” supplements for any serious bodybuilder.
These formulas have really taken the guess-work out of making solid, consistent, and CONTINUAL gains with creatine.
By combining pure creatine monohydrate, the high glycemic, insulin-releasing carbohydrate dextrose, and sodium from sodium phosphate (a critical nutrient for proper creatine transport), along with a few other enhancers, these products have made creatine supplementation easy, exact, and inexpensive. Those grape juice bills can really mount up.
Phosphagen HP from EAS was one of the first creatine monohydrate drinks, and it’s still a good supplement.
Creatine HSC from AST Research is a personal favorite; it mixes up easy and tastes great. I hear from a lot of people who say they never really made big gains on creatine until they started using this product. And now AST Sports Science uses only Micronized Creatine in all their Creatine HSC products. It’s definitely top notch.
MuscleTech’s Cell-Tech is an extremely potent creatine formula, with twice the usual amount of creatine per serving (a full 10 grams). Cell-Tech has a very loyal following. Combining Cell-Tech with MuscleTech’s other top products Anotesten and Nortesten (New, improved formula) makes for one hell of a Super Stack.
HDT’s creatine drink called CLF-5000 is made without the use of Aspartame and is an excellent choice for those seeking to avoid artificial sweeteners.
Any of these supplements will help you maximize creatine uptake, and more creatine in the muscles generally means more cell volume and more explosive power."
Muscles Thirsty? Try Glutamine Not Ovaltine By: Joseph Ahern
Sore after that hard workout? A little nauseous? This could be a sign of muscle and general dehydration. We all know that fluids such as sports drinks are a terrific way of getting fluids into your system, but how about aiding those sore muscles. Glutamine taken as a supplement can be just the ticket to avoiding muscle atrophy and pain as well as increasing muscle gains from your workout.
Glutamine is one of the 20 non-essential amino acids that are found in the human body. Non-essential means that the body can produce this amino itself, not that it isn’t important. Quite the contrary, 60 percent of the amino acids found in skeletal muscles are glutamines. Glutamine is also an important part of the cell structure of the intestines and stomach.
Glutamine is important in facilitating the absorption of protein into muscles. This process is also known as protein synthesis. Muscles that are fatigued and dehydrated from an intense workout have a hard time absorbing the necessary protein to heal themselves and become larger and stronger. Glutamine taken as a supplement after a workout will assist in elevating muscle growth and prevent muscle deterioration or atrophy.
Also, glutamine is a growth hormone elevator so maintaining appropriate levels is essential if you want to see solid results from your fitness program.. Glutamine given as a supplement has been credited with improving brain function as well as aiding in general mood improvement. As glutamine is strongly represented in the digestive tract, it has shown success when given to patients with colitis and Crohn’s Disease as well as patients undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. Its ability to prevent muscle atrophy has also led to glutamine supplements being given to burn victim, trauma victims and those recovering from surgery.
Glutamine supplements are produced in both powder and capsule form by a large number of manufacturers including the following:
Optimum Nutrition American Bodybuilding ISS Research Universal Nutrition

Isolate or Concentrate: Which Whey for Me? By Joseph Ahern
Whey protein has long been used by bodybuilders and other fitness enthusiasts to help build muscle mass without adding fat. It is available as Whey Protein Concentrate and Whey Protein Isolate, but which one is right for you? As with any supplement program, that depends on your goals as well as your wallet. Here are some facts about both.
Whey Protein Isolate is the purest form of the product and generally is between 90 98 percent pure. As such, it is the more expensive of the two forms of the product. Whey Protein Isolate is the most easily absorbed of the two and will add mass at a faster rate than concentrate. It also contains only about one percent lactose and is highly recommended for athletes who are lactose intolerant.
Whey Protein Concentrate can be found in forms that contain anywhere from 70 percent to 85 percent pure whey protein. As with the more pure form, it too is derived from milk. Both contain a certain amount of carbohydrates, fats and other trace ingredients. Being somewhat less pure, the concentrated form is less expensive than Whey Protein Isolate.
The are a large number of companies that manufacture both forms of whey and it is readily available from a number of sources including dealsinbulk.com, a discount supplier of supplements. Among the leading manufacturers are the following:
Optimum Nutrition 4EverFit American Sports Nutrition Cytosport Ultimate Nutrition ProLab
There are many conflicting theories regarding the cost /benefit analysis of using Isolate versus Concentrate or even a combination or blending of both. It is general believed that the more serious the bodybuilder, the more he or she will lean toward the Isolate. Both are available in a number of forms, quantities and, of course, flavors.
The side effects of whey protein, as the saying goes, “it’s all good.” Whey protein use has been credited with preventing prostate cancer and breast cancer as well as contributing to weight loss and a boost to the user’s immune system. The generally recommended daily amount of whey is about one gram per pound of body weight. As with anything, too much is no good. Overuse can affect the athlete’s liver function.

Protein It's Mean, It's Lean, It's Protein Putting the Power in Your Workout Hour.
"You see it everywhere.
It’s poking around in the back yard, it’s treading through your local lake, it’s floating around the sky above.
It swims, it walks, it crawls, if flies, it does all of the above.
It’s your protein source.
This is hardly a secret to bodybuilding fanatics. While most of what you eat is generally from sources of carbohydrates, approximately one-fourth of the calories in your daily intake should consist of protein. Otherwise, your workout hour will consist of anything but power.
Too often, dieters indulge in low-fat diets that deprive their bodies of much-needed protein. Thus, the body begins to devour its muscle tissue like a hungry vulture.
In order to nourish your body with the proper amount of protein, it is first necessary to determine what your body fat percentage is and then weigh your lean body mass up against your level of physical activity.
For example, if you are somebody who exercises on the average of an hour per week, then you’ll need to nourish your system with .7 grams of protein for every pound of lean body mass. So, if you have 140 pounds of lean body mass, you’ll need to take in 98 grams of protein per day.
If you are a more hard-core trainer who works out on the average of five hours per week, you’ll need to upgrade your protein intake to .9 grams per pound of lean body mass, which for the same person, would equate to 126 grams of protein per day.
Even couch potatoes need their protein, at least .6 grams for every pound of lean mass. Otherwise, serious health problems could result.
To engineer you protein diet, here are a few sources to guide you.
CHICKEN BREAST: This doesn’t necessarily come before the egg, but chicken breasts are among the most common of protein sources. Low in fat, remember to tear the skin off first while avoiding any fattening seasonings. Honey mustard is usually a great way to add some taste. The average chicken breast consists of 35 grams of protein.
EGGS: For a hard-boiled body, egg whites are tremendous in delivering the proteins that you need. Be sure to remove the yoke first (it’s loaded with cholesterol) before letting ‘em down the hatch. There are approximately 4 grams of protein in each egg white so you can load up on them throughout the day. Also, egg whites are fat free!
TUNA: Sparkle up your protein diet with Sparky himself. As long as you’re not mixing it with that fattening mayonnaise, tuna is an excellent dietary food that will provide you with the protein you need. There’s approximately 25 grams of protein in a can of low-fat tuna.
Of course, you don’t need necessarily need to swim or fly to get your protein fix for the day. You can always stroll up to the juice bar and order a delicious protein drink, made from your favorite protein powdered supplement."
Drop the fat and keep the muscle.
"Truth is, any time you lose fat, you run the danger of cutting into muscle as well. It’s a tricky balance you need to strike, but the key is to drop as much fat while preserving as much lean muscle as possible. Here’s a few quick tips to keep in mind:
* Be certain to get your protein in every 3 hours (this is key). Also, be sure to take some protein in before bed (no carbs though).
* Try supplementing with L-Glutamine: it not only helps you get lean, it also seems to have a muscle-sparring effect in most people.
* You can drop your carbs down pretty low to tighten, but don't drop the good fats down too much. Supplementing with Omega 3s and/or flax seed oil can help.
* You'll want to consider cycling your calories if you're not doing this already. See the Ultimate Muscle Mass and Anabolic Nutrition Programs for more tips.
* Don't make your diet too complex: lean protein is the key, processed sugar is to be avoided.
* Remember, when you're natural, it's a tough job to drop fat and maintain mass. It can be done, but you have to go after it intelligently. Getting that constant influx of high-quality protein is really your #1 priority."
